Jackie Anderson

Dear CMC and Family,

As I sit down to write this letter, it’s hard to believe that my time as a dancer here is coming to an end. The countless hours spent in the studio, the sweat, the sore muscles, the laughter, the tears, and the joy- it all feels like a blur of beautiful moments that have shaped who I am today.

Walking into the studio for the first time all those years ago, I never imagined how much this place would become a second home. At first, it was just about learning steps and keeping up in class. But somewhere along the way, it became so much more. The studio became a place where I learned discipline, perseverance, self-expression, and the power of community. I found confidence in myself that I didn’t know existed, and I discovered how much passion can drive you when you truly love something.

To my teachers, thank you doesn’t feel like enough. Your guidance, patience, and belief in me have made all the difference. You pushed me when I wanted to give up, corrected me when I needed to grow, and celebrated every little victory with me. You saw potential even when I doubted myself, and that belief helped me rise time and time again. I will carry the lessons you taught me far beyond the studio walls.

To my teammates- what a journey we’ve had together. You have all been my biggest cheerleader, my support system, and my second family. From backstage talks to laughter during class, you’ve made the long days more bearable and the special moments unforgettable. We’ve shared so many firsts; first solos, first competitions, first group wins and now we share one more, the bittersweet goodbye. But know that I’ll always be rooting for you, wherever life takes you.

To the younger dancers who are just beginning their journey: cherish every single moment. Soak in every correction, take every opportunity to grow, and never stop believing in yourself. Some days will be tough. You’ll fall out of turns, forget choreography, or feel like you’re not improving. But those are the days that build you. Keep showing up. Stay hungry to learn and never be afraid to shine. You are capable of so much more than you realize.

Dance is more than movement, it’s storytelling, emotion, and connection. And in a world that is always changing, dance remains constant. I hope you find as much love and healing in it as I have. Trust the process, and don’t rush it. Progress doesn’t always come quickly, but it always comes.

To my family, thank you for the rides, the costumes, the support, and the endless encouragement. None of this would have been possible without your love and belief in my dreams. I'm so thankful to have you all in my life. You have shaped me to be who I am today, thank you.

As I take my final bow here, I leave with a full heart. This chapter of my life has been one of the most meaningful, and though I’m moving on, a part of me will always be spinning across this studio floor, feeling the music, and remembering what it means to be a dancer here.  I’m not sure what the future holds, but I know I’ll always carry the lessons, memories, and spirit of this studio with me. No matter where I go, I will always be proud to say I was part of this incredible dance family.

So, this isn’t goodbye, it's a thank you. Thank you for being my home, my training ground, my sanctuary. Thank you for shaping me into the person and dancer I am today. I’ll miss the music, the mirrors, and the magic of this place more than words can express. But most of all, I’ll miss the people who made it so special.

With all my love and deepest gratitude,

         Jackie Anderson

My darling Jackie,

I have dreaded and wished for this time to come. This strong, beautiful, talented, courageous, independent, caring, funny, and honest woman before us gives me hope for the future. You know what you want, and you have worked hard for it. You never gave up, pushed harder when you were told no and practiced until they finally said yes. You make me and the rest of the family proud to call you ours. This is your time to live big, dream bigger, and enjoy every moment that life offers you. Attending college to pursue your passion is not something most people get to achieve. So, take advantage of any opportunities that arise (even if they’re out of your comfort zone) as you can accomplish anything you put your mind to! Please remember to breathe, be patient with yourself, and if you begin to doubt yourself- DON’T!  Your love for your craft is inspiring to younger girls who call you the “Beyoncé of Ballet,” so continue to give it all you’ve got! I’ll be there in the wings, either in person or in spirit, no matter where you are or what stage you’re on. Know that I’m your biggest fan.

     Love,

          Mom
